“ROLE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH OF PAKISTAN”
Introduction
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gujrat, Pakistan has always been keen to address and work on national problems and their solution. Pakistan being as developing country, struggling from basic to advanced level problems for economic development in sectors likes energy, health, agriculture and industry. In this scenario, for the economic and social development of a country, universities hold great importance involved in producing well trained and skillful manpower. They also play role in basic and applied research including biotechnology will help in evolution of new processes and products which strengthen the economic growth.
Biotechnology is the science of applied biological processes for the production of useful products and services. It is the application of scientific and engineering principles encompassing the following biologically and economically important fields.
Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization and Hayatian Society for Biochemistry and Biotechnology (HSBB) are jointly organizing 01 day International Symposium on “ROLE OF BIOTECHNOLOGY FOR ECONOMIC GROWTH OF PAKISTAN” on October 16, 2014. There will be five sessions which includes:
- Health Biotechnology
- Agriculture Biotechnology
- Food Biotechnology
- Industrial Biotechnology
- Environmental Biotechnology
Objectives:
- To highlight the role of biotechnology in economic growth of Pakistan
- Addresses the challenges faced by academia and industrial biotechnology and establishment of linkages between them
- Future perspective of biotechnology in Pakistan
